I’d like to propose to order a set of 5 ipads for next semester. We are all excited about being part of the Ipad group, so it would be a shame to allow this excitement to “Dry Up”.

To do this, we need rationales and goals. Do you feel it is something we should look into?

Goals:
To stay on the cutting edge of Learning in a 21st Century
To focus on collaborative learning
To further Differentiated Instructional Leaning
To prepare for a Classroom without walls… From classroom to classworld
To…
To…
Etc…
To be a real technology school

Rational: We envision tablet computing to have a real future in our learning. We all agree.
5 ipads + the 6th(teacher’s) allows for 6 groups of 4 or 5 students collaborating in some capacity.
Student centered= student learning
Presently we have 13 Departments and Areas of the school represented:

1.Art, Drama, Dance
2. Math
3. Science
4.Computer Science
5. History
6. English

7. Tech
8. ESL
9. Business
10.Library Commons
11.Religion
12. Special Needs
13.Success for all Team

My idea would be to book 5 ipads for a week, or every Monday (or whatever) and use them in your class.

Could you please think of 2 ways to use the Ipad in your classroom in a creative or novel way and submit them to me. I’d like to make a list of all the depts and ways in which we could use them. This would be exciting!

Idea examples: Go to

Comp Science:
  1. In groups, students take a computer apart and put it together, have every step recorded with the Ipad. Then using Imovie, they create a movie of themselves putting it together and post it Youtube.
  2. In groups students brainstorm a plan to solve a problem using The Notes App. They then send it to their own email where they take these notes and create software from their plan.

Canadian History:
1. Using Educreations, students import and image of a battle map and draw, write a scrip and record themselves explaining how Vimy Ridge was won by the Canadians. Then post this video on to the class website.
2. To teach the Depression, have each group, (depending their different learning style) access different data:
1. A depression letter
2. Stats of agricultural failure
3. Images of homeless men
4. songs or poetry of the depression.
Groups then analyze and present their findings on the big screen.
